Something Just Happened

Something special happened in Duluth, Minnesota during the weekend of October 26-27, 2007. The Holy Spirit packed so much into these two days that it is difficult to know how to summarize it.

The evenings of these dates were selected by Cindy Jacobs as the kick-off for 35 days of prayer referred to as the Light the Highway Strategy. The focus of this particular aspect of the strategy was to hold meetings at the northern (Duluth, MN) and southern (Laredo, TX) terminal points of I-35. I-35 has been declared a Highway of Holiness in accordance with Isaiah 35:8. Cindy invited Rick Heeren as the leader of the US Global Apostolic Prayer Network, a statewide network of intercessors in Minnesota (USGAPN-MN), to lead the Duluth meetings.

Subsequently, Jim and Faith Chosa were invited to participate in the meetings in Duluth. Three USGAPN-MN leaders, Karen Krueger, Lucy Riethmiller, and Tom Gibson, began working with leaders in Duluth, particularly Pastors Dan and Shannon Stone, and Pastors Dave and Rebecca Ballard, to identify a venue and extend invitations to the Church in Duluth and in Superior, WI. These folks also prepared worship teams and helped establish a 24/7 House of Prayer in Duluth.

Jim Chosa also lead a course in Spiritual Mapping during the mornings and afternoons of these two days. Around 100 participants registered for the course-mostly leaders of the USGAPN-MN from around the state of Minnesota. Sandy Halvorsen, USGAPN-MN Coordinator for St. Louis County (Duluth is located in St. Louis County), assisted the Chosas in selecting four spiritually significant sites in the area. On Saturday afternoon, after 1½ days of training by Jim Chosa, four teams were sent to the previously selected sites covered through intercession by a base-camp team. Debriefing by the field and base-camp teams following this training exercise proved to everyone involved that the Lord had accomplished a great deal in Duluth through us.

On Friday evening, October 26, the Laredo and Duluth meetings were linked together via the internet. During both Friday and Saturday evenings, Duluth blessed and interceded for Laredo and Laredo blessed and interceded for Duluth. On Saturday, the Church in Duluth entered into a significant period of repentance.

It is impossible to summarize all that happened during these two days. Perhaps a glimpse of the closing ceremony will suffice. At the end of the Saturday evening session, the leaders of the Church in Duluth called Jim and Faith Chosa, Karen Krueger, Tom Gibson, Lucy Riethmiller and Rick Heeren to front of the auditorium. They thanked us for facilitating these meetings and told us that the spiritual climate in Duluth was greatly improved because of what we had done together. One of the Duluth leaders, Pastor Steve Peterson, hugged Rick Heeren and, with tears in his eyes, said that a significant breakthrough had taken place and that Duluth is now ready to enter into transformation.
